What is CS2 skin gambling
How skins become chips, where the money goes and what the edge costs.
CS2 skins are items with a market price. Skin gambling sites let you deposit them, convert their value into site balance, wager it on Roll, Crash, cases, upgrades or coinflips, and withdraw the balance as other skins. The skin is the chip; Steam's marketplace is the cashier.
How a deposit works
You log in with Steam, the site's bot (or a peer-to-peer trade partner) receives your skin through a trade offer, and your balance is credited with the skin's valuation — usually a few percent below the Steam market price. Withdrawal reverses it: you pick a skin from the site's or another user's inventory and receive a trade offer.
Where the money goes
Every game has a house edge — the share of wagers the site keeps over time. Roll keeps 6.67%, cases around 10%, upgraders about 10%, Crash and Dice about 1%. Play the simulators to see the shapes; the house edge guide explains the numbers.
Skin sites vs crypto casinos
Skin-native sites (CSGORoll, CSGOEmpire, CSGOBig) take skins directly and are built around Roll, cases and battles. Crypto casinos (Stake, Gamdom, 500.casino) take coins — Gamdom and 500 also take skins — and add slots, live tables and sports. Rewards differ too: skin sites push free cases and deposit bonuses; crypto casinos push rakeback. Our promo code table lists both kinds.
Is it legal?
Depends on where you live. Many jurisdictions treat skin gambling as gambling; several sites geo-block accordingly. Valve's terms prohibit using the Steam API for gambling, which is why sites operate through third-party bots and P2P trades. You must be 18+.

- The share of every wager the operator keeps over the long run. 1% edge = ◎10 expected loss per ◎1,000 wagered.

- Variance
- How much results swing around the average. High variance = long dead runs, rare big hits.
- Provably fair
- A seed-hash system letting you verify a result was fixed before your bet. Proves honesty, not good odds.
- Rakeback
- A percentage of the house edge you generate, returned regardless of win or loss.
