House edge explained
One number that decides every game: what it is, how to find it, how to lower it.
House edge is the percentage of every wager the operator keeps in the long run. It is the only number that matters over time, and it is rarely printed where a player will see it. Every simulator on SkinsRoll shows it.
The numbers
| Game | Edge | Per ◎1,000 wagered |
|---|---|---|
| Dice, Crash, Plinko | 1% | ◎10 |
| Roll (15-slot roulette) | 6.67% | ◎67 |
| Upgrader | ~10% | ◎100 |
| Case opening | 8–15% | ◎80–150 |
| Slots | 3–6% | ◎30–60 |
How to find it
Dice prints it: multiplier × chance = 99, not 100. Roll hides it in the single green slot: 14 non-green slots pay 2× on a 7/15 chance. Cases hide it in the price: sum of (item price × odds) is the EV, and the case costs 10% more — the Case EV tool does this arithmetic for any case.
How to lower it
Three ways, in order of impact. Choose the game: Dice at 1% costs a tenth of a case at 10% for the same turnover. Take rakeback: a percentage of the edge returned on every wager — Gamdom 15BOOST, Stake GETRAKEBACK, 500 CSMAX. Open free cases from a promo code (GETBOX, headshot, case2go) rather than paid ones.
What it isn't
Edge is not a promise about a session. Over 50 rounds anything can happen; over 50,000 the edge is all that's left. Variance describes the ride, edge the destination. Betting patterns (martingale, "due" colours, chasing) change the shape of the ride and never the destination — the Roll odds tool shows exactly how.
Glossary
- House edge
- The share of every wager the operator keeps over the long run. 1% edge = ◎10 expected loss per ◎1,000 wagered.
- RTP
- Return to player — the mirror of house edge. 90% RTP on a case means a 10% edge.
- Expected value (EV)
- What a bet is worth on average: sum of (payout × probability). Always below the stake on a real site.
- Variance
- How much results swing around the average. High variance = long dead runs, rare big hits.
- Provably fair
- A seed-hash system letting you verify a result was fixed before your bet. Proves honesty, not good odds.
- Rakeback
- A percentage of the house edge you generate, returned regardless of win or loss.
